Tanaka Kazuyuki Blade Manufacturing Co.
This company started out manufacturing sickles in the late Meiji period, during the Russo-Japanese War. Since 1946 (Showa 21), the company began making various tools under the name Tanaka Tsutomu Sickle Manufacturing Co. In 2000 (Heisei 12) the company changed its name to Tanaka Kazuyuki Blade Manufacturing Co. The production of kitchen knives began in 1995 (Heisei 6). After apprenticing under a government certified craftsman in Takefu City, Fukui, Shigeki Tanaka launched the Shigeki brand. Shigeki’s innovative designs and craftsmanship have garnered worldwide praise and appeal. Because they are hand-forged, the finish on each knife is unique in its subtle variations, making it truly one of a kind. Imbued with the passion and artistry of their maker, Shigeki knives are certain to please.
